Make CAPTCHA module components working in Webform module
I had the problem when the webform was created, there was no CAPTCHA component on the page. After some research and testing. So here is the solution.
- Go to Administer > User Management > CAPTCHA
- Check "Add Add CAPTCHA administration links to forms." option.
- Create the form and you will see the CAPTCHA drop down menu at the bottom of the page. DON'T USE THIS!! THIS DOESN'T WORK as you expected.
- Save the form.
- Go to the form you just created.
- You wil see CAPTCHA drop down menu at the bottom of the page. Click "Place a challenge here for untrusted users." to create whatever type of challenges for your webform.
- Logout and test your webform, and CAPTCHA should appear as usual.
- Finish.
Why it didn't work when you clicking on "Place a challenge here for untrusted users." at the bottom of
the form creation page. Assume you have created it, which actually means "let's enable CAPTCHA challenges for untrusted users who come to this webform creation page", so trusted users come to this page, they have to finish a CAPTCHA challenge before submitting the page. Therefore, you are better to always create the webform first, and then enable CAPTCHA challenges at second. It doesn't mean you have to do it that way, but it seems people find this way is more straight forward than any other way.

God! Something so simple seemed so bloody frustrating. This worked great. Thanks for posting this for the masses.

THIS was weird... so don't use the captcha setting on the "EDIT" but on the "VIEW"
Thanks for this posting... this needs to be cross referenced on the drupal site!

Submitted by Chris (not verified) on Fri, 10/30/2009 - 15:11.thanks for posting - it's always helpful when people take the time to write their solutions to problems - guaranteed someone else has run into the same issues. I have a couple of sites I want to add captchas to (ringbacks is one of them), but before that I needed to figure out how to get captchas on my webforms - I found the config options ok, but just can't get them to show up. At least your post has given me a few more things to try ...

Nope! You were right. I had to save the darned thing first. Thanks so much for the directions!
